Matthew,
Wanted to bring your attention to the 2010 American Association Wall Calendar I’m producing this year.
Please let me know if you would like to order a copy.
Do you accept advertising in Deaflife.com? If so perhaps I could place an ad with you. Thanks very much.

Enjoyed this piece. I'm a baseball lover and historian. I've heard of organizations that provide grave markers for veterans...if you learn of any other players who may have served in the Armed Forces, they would liekly be eligible for markers as veterans. Contact me and I will try to get more info. if you'd like

Thanks!

I've heard this is ture but I've never read anything about it, have no idea when this may have taken place. As I concern myself principally with the events of the American Association, I suggest you contact a SABR member (www.SABR.org) to find out more about this unusual event. Thank you for visiting my blog and I hope you will leave more comments in the future.

Ripley's Believe it or Not says Nick Altrock won a game for the Chicago White Socks without ever throwing a pitch. Top of the ninth, score tied, two outs, runner on first. Altrock was put in as a relief pitcher. He picked the runner off at first. Never threw a pitch. Inning over. Home team comes to bat in the botton of the ninth and scores and wins the game. Altrock the winning pitcher. Did this happen? Thanks.

Hi Rex,

Both Lally and Marion played in the Major Leagues, Lally with Pittsburg in 1891 and St. Louis in 1897 and Marion in the Federal League in 1914 & 1915 with Brooklyn.

I think you should try contacting the Pittsburg, St. Louis or the Brooklyn/Los Angeles baseball clubs or fan clubs of them.
